Introducing some ridiculously fun facts about iPhones!! Brought to you by me and google, along with 5 Hidden iPhone Tricks that I have taught myself.
I don’t carry my DSLR with me everywhere (weird, I know), so I have been trying to get to know my iPhone camera and the photo app better to take better photos of my family on the go.
Fun fact #1– Apple’s first iPhone from 2007 was the one that started it all. It had a 3.5-inch screen, a 2-megapixel camera, and topped out at just 16GB of storage. It didn’t even support third-party apps yet.
Fun fact #2– Today, there are about 1 billion active iPhones in the world. (I don’t want to think about how many phones are not properly backed up!)
If you are like me and want to start taking better photos with your iPhone, here are the 5 Hidden Tricks that we should all know:
HOW TO QUICKLY OPEN YOUR CAMERA
When your iPhone is locked, wake up the phone by tapping the screen or pressing the Power button. Then simply swipe left across the lock screen to open the Camera app. This is by far my favorite tip – no more fumbling around trying to open your camera.
LET’S TALK COMPOSITION
Did you know you can display a grid on the iPhone camera screen? Having a grid is helpful when you compose your photos. The rule of thirds is a classic composition technique. Your image will look more pleasing if you position your subject or horizon off-center. Use the grid to set the horizon on one of the horizontal gridlines. Or place your subject at one of the intersections where the lines meet.
FOCUS
Hold your finger down on your subject until you see a yellow square to set your focus while in-camera. You’ll see a yellow square indicating the focus point when the focus is set. Now you will be able to take photos of your subject no matter where they move to.
EXPOSURE
Exposure refers to the brightness of your image. If it’s under-exposed or over-exposed, it can affect the quality of your image. To set the Exposure, tap the focus point in your frame and hold. You’ll see a yellow square indicating the focus point is established. Swipe up on the sun next to the yellow box to make the image brighter or down to make it darker. Once your exposure is set how you like it, start shooting!
FACIAL RECOGNITION
This feature is not in the camera app but can be found in your iPhone Photo App. Once you open your app, select “Albums” from the bottom menu. Look for the “People & Places” section to find the facial recognition section. When you enter “people,” your iPhone will have automatically placed like faces into an album. You can favorite your family members or significant other by selecting the heart. You will also be able to rename the album to the person’s name. I love this feature when trying to find photos of my children for various school projects!
